Redding Police contacted several probationers and parolees while investigating an East Redding house following complaints from the neighbors. The Neighborhood Police Unit arrived Tuesday afternoon to do a probation search at 1461 Oakdale Lane. There had apparently been complaints of heavy traffic at the house at all hours of the day and night. When officers got there they saw 40-year-old Nicholas Johnson driving away, and he was stopped and detained. Inside the house they contacted 25-year-old Megan Fruits, who’s on parole for robbery, 57-year-old John Fruits, who’s on supervised release, and several other people. While they were talking to the occupants, officers could hear a commotion in the attic. The house was surrounded and there was a brief standoff as officers threatened to let Chase the K9 loose in the attic. 38-year-old Nathan Totten of Shingletown surrendered. He was wanted on a case from December 3rd involving first degree residential burglary with the intent to commit a sexual assault.
