A jewel of Redding, the South City Park has recently been closed to public activity due to illicit activities which have taken over the once popular park. Three years ago a fence was erected in order to keep the illegal activities to a minimum, but the reality is that law abiding citizens could not enjoy the park they were paying for. Now a plan is in the works to dramatically revamp the park and make it a destination point for families once again. On Monday the City of Redding will hold an open house to allow the public a chance to give input into the plan and to express their wants and desires. The open house will take place from Noon to 2PM at the park, with the first 100 attendees receiving a free picnic lunch. If you are unable to attend there will be a community survey online at cityofredding.org/southcitypark.
