Cal-Trans does a lot of groundbreakings, but not a lot of ribbon cuttings because by the time they’re done building something it’s already being used. Such is the case with the Redding to Anderson Six Lane Project, which was officially completed Tuesday. The $132 Million project expanded Interstate Five to three lanes in each direction and either expanded or replaced ten different bridges. Planning began in 2017 and crews broke ground in January of 2019. Now Cal-Trans will be eyeing another remaining stretch of I-5 with just two lanes in each direction from just north of Twin View Boulevard to the Hilltop Drive Overcrossing.
