The Redding Police Department’s DUI specialist has hit a milestone. Officer Jacob Provencio has been with the RPD since 2005 and is highly trained in the science of detecting impaired drivers. He currently serves as an instructor training other officers in the skills he’s developed, and also continues to serve as a patrol officer. On Wednesday night Officer Provencio investigated a possible DUI that resulted in his 2000th career DUI arrest. About 28 people die in drunk driving related crashes every day in the United States. Provencio says he just wants people to make it home safe.
