The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office is doing another denim drive. Jeans are being collected to donate to survivors of sexual violence through “One Safe Place”, Shasta County’s Domestic Violence Shelter. The jeans are also being collected to bring attention to a notorious Italian Supreme Court case in which the justices ruled that a rape victim must have helped her assailant undress her because her pants were so tight, therefore implying consent. Last year’s donations to the program far exceeded expectations, as the DA’s Office presented the shelter with more than 300 denim items. Donated items can be dropped off at a bin located inside the DA’s Office on West Street.
