Redding Police say a motorcyclist taunted and baited them Thursday night, apparently wanting to lead them in a pursuit. RPD Traffic Officers were working a special enforcement detail for Kool April Nites when the motorcyclist kept going by a large crowd of spectators riding recklessly and doing wheelies. When officers tried to pull him over, he fled on South Market Street, weaving through traffic. Because of the danger, officers chose not to pursue him. He was seen heading north on Pine Street, and then turned and came to the intersection of South and East Streets, where an officer happened to be at the 4-way stop sign intersection. The rider did not stop, the officer got behind him and turned on his lights, and the rider yielded. He was arrested for DUI and reckless driving. The back of the unidentified rider’s T-shirt said it all, with the words “Whiskey Weed Wheelies”.
