Stage 2 water restrictions go into effect starting this Sunday for the City of Redding. The state has ordered all municipalities to cut back water usage by at least 20 percent. In Redding that means watering can only be done between 9PM and 7AM three days a week depending on address. Those with even numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For odd number addresses it’s Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. No runoff is allowed and no watering for 48 hours after rainfall. There is no hosing down of sidewalks. Hoses must have shutoff nozzles. There can be a Fifty Dollar fine for each violation, but that’ll only be done as a last resort. Although the restrictions will be in effect, officials say the city has an abundant supply of water.
