A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by the CHP for Cinco De Mayo Thursday evening between the hours of 6:30PM and Midnight. The location is not publicly disclosed, but it will be somewhere outside city limits at a location with a history of DUI crashes and arrests. Officers trained to quickly detect impairment by alcohol or drugs will be at the checkpoint using handheld breathalyzers. The average overall cost of a DUI is $13,500 plus a suspended license.
