Much like sex offenders, people who have a history of arson convictions can be required to register with the court as potential arsonists. On Friday the Shasta Arson Task Force did a compliance sweep of 13 arson registrants. Nine of them were found to be complying with the requirements of their supervised release. Two of them were arrested for non-compliance. Cases will be filed against two others who moved without notifying the proper authorities. One arrest was made for a felony warrant stemming from a 2021 arson fire. That person surrendered after being convinced to do so by Garin the Sheriff’s Department K9. Toni the K9 also helped during the sweep by sniffing around registrants’ homes.
