Tehama County held their Peace Officers Memorial Thursday at a Red Bluff Church. They honored the 13 members of law enforcement who died in the line of duty statewide last year, as well as the 14 law enforcement deaths as a result of Covid. It was the last threats of Covid that prompted Shasta County to again cancel this years memorial ceremony. The Tehama County event was especially poignant this year as it marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of Red Bluff Police Officer Dave Mobilio. Early in the morning of November 19th of 2002, the School Resource Officer was fueling his patrol car at a cardlock station in North Red Bluff when he was fatally shot. His killer was a man who happened to be angry with law enforcement in general and Officer Mobilio happened to be a convenient target. On Wednesday Mobilio’s son Luke lit a memorial candle for his father.
