APD: Man Arrested After Throwing Metal Pipe At Officers

An Arcata man is accused of throwing a large metal pipe at an Anderson Police Officer. Just after 11AM Tuesday officers were checking out reports that a man was walking in and out of traffic and throwing rocks at passing cars along Highway 273 near Alexander Avenue. Officers found 43-year-old Brandon Charles Johnson, who matched the description. He started walking away down the railroad tracks, then turned and reportedly threw a pipe weighing about 15 pounds at an officer. Johnson was booked into jail on charges including assault on a peace officer.
