Redding Police have publicized the name of a man who was found dead after colliding with an East Redding furniture store. A felony arrest warrant alleging ongoing sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl had been issued for 25-year-old Michael Branson. On the morning of May 28th, RPD Officers saw Branson’s Ford pickup near Canby and Victor, and tried to pull it over. The truck pulled into the Walmart parking lot, then accelerated and crashed into the wall of Ashley Furniture. Officers could not see anyone in the truck and were hesitant to approach because of the likelihood Brandon was armed. He was known to own multiple guns. Beanbag rounds were used to break the windows so they could look inside with a drone. It was then clear that Branson was dead. A gun was found near the body. The Coroners Office says the cause of death was a single gunshot wound.
