Sex Offender Arrested At Illegal Cannabis Grow In Shingletown

A convicted sex offender was arrested again, this time for illegal marijuana cultivation. On Tuesday deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Eradication Team, and agents with the Shasta County Narcotics Task Force served a warrant at a residence in the 7000 block of Ally Gold Way in Shingletown for an illegal marijuana grow. Upon arriving at 7AM, deputies contacted 69-year-old Rudy Sablan Wusstig and confirmed he was the property owner. Two greenhouse-style structures were located on the property with a total of 204 actively growing plants inside. Approximately 296 pounds of processed marijuana, some packaged for sale, was also located. Wusstig was arrested and booked for cultivation of more than six plants and for outdoor cultivation. He was also charged with being a registered sex offender in possession of marijuana for sale, which is a felony. He had previously been convicted of two felony sex offenses – lewd acts with a child and incest. He is still in custody pending bail of $100,000.
