100 People Take Shelter At PG&E Facility As Amador County Fire Explodes To Over 3000 Acres

About 100 people celebrating the 4th of July holiday at a beach in Amador County had to be taken to a PG&E facility for safety, and then were briefly unable to leave after a wildfire forced evacuations. The Electra Fire is burning southeast of Jackson near Highway 49. As of Tuesday morning the fire had nearly tripled in size and has torched over 3000 acres with no containment. About 10,000 people in both Amador and Calavares Counties are without power. Amador County Sheriff Gary Redman believes fireworks or a barbeque may have sparked the fire.
