An East Redding man may have gotten some bad weed. At around 4:30AM Wednesday morning Kim Alton Walker Sr. called 9-1-1 and said intruders were in the home on Charade Way off Tarmac that he shares with his 89-year-old mother. Officers had been there previously and found that no intruders were there and the place was secure. When officers called Walker’s mother she said she feared for her safety because walker had a knife and she was afraid he would mistake her for an intruder. When officer got there walker was highly agitated and reportedly brandished some large kitchen knives before throwing two of them at the officers. They used shotgun-fired beanbag rounds to subdue Walker and apprehend him. Walker had apparently been drinking heavily and also smoked cannabis that may have been infused with an unknown substance that caused him to become paranoid and hallucinate. He was released to Mercy Medical Center for treatment, and charges will be filed later.
