Man Who Held Officers On Hours Long Standoff Thursday Identified

Redding Police have revealed details about a man who held them in a 5-hour standoff that closed Market Street Thursday evening. 32-year-old Jakeima Rohrbach had multiple outstanding arrest warrants, including for robbery, kidnapping to commit robbery, assault with great bodily injury, assault with a firearm, drug possession and more. On July 15th, the RPD says one of their officers saw Rohrbach on Lake Boulevard and chased him at high speed onto Interstate 5, but he got away. Officers were looking for Rohrbach for a week until he was spotted Thursday in the parking lot of the Market Street Manor. A quick arrest was attempted, but Rohrbach jumped in his car and sped through the parking lot, but became high-centered on a raised curb. He kept gunning the motor but he was stuck. He refused to get out of the car and yelled at police to shoot him as he held a handgun up to his head. The SWAT Team, Crisis Intervention Team and Hostage Negotiation Team were called to the scene and spent 5 hours talking to Rohrbach until he finally gave up. He had multiple knives, but the gun was a replica. Police say a large amount of Methamphetamine was also in the car, as well as more Meth and multiple guns at his home. He was booked on a long list of charges.
