Crews Stop Forward Progress On 130 Acre Fire Near Rancho Tehama

A couple of fires were defeated with quick, aggressive attacks Monday.

A fire off Millville Plains Road near Dersch road burned about 2 acres of grassland. It was apparently started by a traffic collision.

The fire in the area of Tulare Bend and Humboldt Drive in Rancho Tehama just north of last week’s Rainbow Fire spread quickly. Forward progress was stopped at around 5:30PM in the afternoon at 133 acres of grass and Oak woodland, using retardant lines and roads to serve as firebreaks.

Fire crews returned Monday afternoon to a structure fire they extinguished Sunday evening. Cal-Fire crews had arrived at a home on Thorn Lane off Old Alturas Road Sunday to find a fully involved metal garage, and they contained the flames to the one structure, preventing spread to vegetation. On Mnoday smoke was seen, so crews returned to look for hot spots.
