Council Will Discuss Tree Ordinance, New Financial Software At Tuesday’s Meeting

The City of Redding’s tree management ordinance is due to be updated. The last time that was done was 2006, and recently some residents have asked for additional regulations to protect and preserve some native tree species. At Tuesday’s meeting the Redding City Council will vote on whether to form an ad hoc committee with the specific goal of writing a new ordinance. The committee would consist of two members appointed by each council member, plus three planning commissioners.

The council will also consider hiring a consulting firm at a cost of $780,000 to implement the new software system being purchased by the city. The software, produced by Graviton and Cherry Road, will handle virtually all of the city’s financial and human resource operations.

In a closed session prior to the regular meeting, the council will conduct an employee performance evaluation of City Manager Barry Tippin.
