A large and sophisticated cannabis grow was busted in South Redding on Wednesday, according to Redding Police. Law enforcement from several agencies went to the property in the 1000 block of Kenyon Drive to serve a search warrant. The Neighborhood Police Unit had received complaints from the public in June, and they began an investigation. During the investigation it was determined that the grow was un-permitted, and may be guarded by armed individuals on a regular basis. On Wednesday officers reported finding around 800 large plants growing in 3 large structures. Police say that two Hispanic men were seen running from the area when officers arrived. Drug agents and the SWAT team reported finding a lot of environmental damage, including toxic chemical containers spread around the site. Police say there was evidence at the site that profits from the grow were benefiting out of the area drug trafficking organizations.
