The City of Redding Solid Waste Utility wants to help children stay warm this Winter. It’s the 21st year of the Coats for Kids Program. Through December 16th, new and gently used children’s coats, as well as hats, gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, jackets and vests are being collected. New underwear and socks are also needed in all sizes. The items should be wrapped in waterproof plastic bags, clearly marked “Coats for Kids”, and left on top of residential blue recycling bins on regular collection days. People who don’t live in city limits can drop off items at the Transfer Station on Abernathy, City Hall or any Redding Fire Station. All the donations will be given to the Good News Rescue Mission for distribution on December 19th.
