The Shasta County Coroner has released the name of a motorcyclist who died on Interstate Five in Anderson Thanksgiving Day, as well as the heroic woman who died trying to help him. Around 5:35PM last Thursday evening, 55-year-old Brian Alan Ford of Redding was on a 2003 Harley Davidson northbound a little south of Balls Ferry Road when he struck a deer. The motorcycle slid into the median, while Ford came to rest lying partially in the fast lane. His girlfriend, 46-year-old Lisa Joann Bacon of Orland, was driving behind him and witnessed the crash. She pulled over into the median behind the motorcycle, then rushed over to assist Ford. A San Francisco woman in a Toyota Camry failed to see them in time and she struck them, causing fatal injuries to both. The CHP is still investigating. Lisa had been a caregiver for her mother. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with family expenses.
