Trio Sentenced For Carjacking At Rolling Hills Casino

Three people have been sentenced for a carjacking committed in October at Rolling Hills Casino in Corning. The victim was in his car in the parking lot when 37-year-old Karla Guadalupe Ortega-Pahua drove a Hyundai up behind him to block his exit. 30-year-old Roberto Diaz-Mendoza and 18-year-old Joseph James Lodge got out of the Hyundai and approached the victim, demanding that he get out of his car. One of them was holding a shotgun. When the victim got out, the Diaz-Mendoza and Lodge got in and drove away. Tehama County Deputies, with help from casino security, were able to identify the two men from surveillance footage. The stolen vehicle was found in Glenn County and the trio of thieves was arrested riding in a vehicle that had been stolen out of Chico. They were in possession of guns used in the carjacking.
