While Redding’s Planning Commission works to update its General Plan, it’s become clear that a great number of Palo Cedro residents don’t want their unincorporated town to become anything resembling a city. During Tuesday’s Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board voted to stop forward motion on preparing a Palo Cedro Town Center Specific Plan. There are two opposing groups pushing different visions for Palo Cedro, but neither group supports the drafting of a specific plan, which would be funded by state grant money. The board voted to have two members of each group meet with resource management staff to discuss common ground and seek further input from the community.
